Its canonical framework is the 1917 Pio-Benedictine Code. Its liturgical books are the <em>Missale Romanum<\/em> of 1962, the <em>Rituale Romanum<\/em> of 1952, and the <em>Pontificale Romanum<\/em> of 1961&ndash;62. The rite is kept unaltered; the doors are not.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bf-p\">The word independent is doing real work in that sentence. The Church of Bloom is not in communion with the Holy See. It claims no Roman faculties, no Roman jurisdiction, and no Roman recognition of its orders, and it says so on every page where a reader might reasonably assume otherwise. A church that would let you guess about that is already lying to you about something larger.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bf-p\">Catholic here means the tradition, the rite, the sacramental theology, and the discipline &mdash; held whole, kept in the old books, and administered without the exclusions Rome attaches to them. Nothing in the liturgy has been softened for the sake of the people it welcomes. The Ordinary and Chief Pastor holds the office of governance; the Chancery keeps the instruments; the Registry keeps the books in ink.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bf-p\">This body is not bound to a building. Faith in Bloom speaks to the first: warm, plain, second person, and free of jargon. The Church of Bloom speaks to the second: cited, dated, and cold where cold is honest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bf-p\">Neither tier is the marketing layer for the other. What the parish promises, the canon tier has to be able to document, and what the canon tier records, the parish has to be able to live with.
