The Problem, Stated Plainly
Nobody is trapped by a lack of willingness.
When a state passes laws that make your healthcare illegal, your documents invalid, or your presence in a public building a legal question, the advice you get from everywhere is the same: leave. It is good advice. It is also advice that assumes you have between three and six thousand dollars sitting unallocated.
Most people do not. What they have is a job that ends the day they leave, a lease with penalties, a car that may or may not make the trip, and a deposit already spent on the place they are trying to escape. The barrier is almost never courage. It is arithmetic.
The Trans Relocation Program pays the arithmetic. Not a referral to a list of other organizations, not a resource guide about relocation — the actual money, sent to the actual landlord or airline, so that the move happens.
Every week someone stays somewhere unsafe because leaving costs more than staying. That week is the thing this program is designed to eliminate.
