Bloom In Home Care

Care from someone
who is not a risk to you.

A trans-led in-home care agency that trains trans people as professional caregivers. Two failures solved at once — unsafe care for us, and closed doors to us.

I Need Care I Want to Be a Caregiver
Why Both Halves Exist

The same design fixes both sides.

In-home care is one of the most intimate services a person can receive. A stranger enters your home, sees your body, handles your medications, and has enormous practical power over your daily life. For a trans or disabled person, hiring that stranger through a conventional agency means gambling on whether the person assigned will be safe — and complaining risks losing the care entirely.

Separately, caregiving is work that many trans people would be excellent at and are routinely shut out of, through hiring discrimination, background-check systems that surface old names, and agency cultures that make the job unbearable.

Bloom In Home Care addresses both from one structure: train trans people as professional caregivers, employ them properly, and deploy them to clients who currently have no safe option. Neither half works alone. Together, each solves the other.

Nonprofit means the margin that would be extracted goes back into wages and training instead. That is not charity — it is the reason the model can pay people properly and still be affordable.
If You Need Care

Care that does not cost you your privacy.

  • Personal care — bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance
  • Medication reminders and appointment transportation
  • Meal preparation, light housekeeping, and errands
  • Companionship and respite for family caregivers who are running out
  • Support with the ordinary daily tasks that a body makes difficult

Your name and pronouns are correct from the first visit, not after a correction. Your body is not a topic of conversation. And you can request a different caregiver without a fight and without a lecture about availability.

Paying for it

In-home care is billed the way care agencies must bill, and it is genuinely expensive everywhere. Medicaid, long-term care insurance, Veterans benefits, and state programs all cover it in some circumstances, and we will help you work out which apply before you rule it out on cost.

Where we operate

Salem and the surrounding area, since caregivers have to physically arrive. This is the one Bloom service with a real geographic limit.

If You Want to Be a Caregiver

A real career, not a placement.

Caregiving is skilled work that is chronically undervalued and chronically short of people. It is also work where being trusted matters more than credentials, which makes it a genuine opening for people the ordinary job market keeps rejecting.

  • Training toward professional certification, provided rather than charged to you
  • Employment with fair wages, not gig-style scheduling that leaves you with no guaranteed hours
  • A workplace where you are not the only trans person and not a subject of discussion
  • Support through the background check and credentialing process, including where an old name surfaces
  • A career path that continues past the entry role

No experience required

Most of our caregivers have not done this professionally before. What matters is reliability, discretion, and being genuinely decent to someone on a bad day. The clinical skills are teachable and we teach them.

⚖

About the background check

Care work legally requires one, and we will not pretend otherwise. What we will do is walk through it with you in advance, including what an old name or a record might mean, so nothing is a surprise at the end of a process you invested in.
