If you made a donation by mistake, entered the wrong amount, meant to give once and set up a monthly gift, or simply changed your mind — contact us and we will refund it. We do not require a reason and we will not ask for one.
Requests within 90 days are refunded as a matter of course. Beyond 90 days, ask anyway. Older refunds are more complicated on the processing side, not impossible, and we would rather sort out the complication than keep money someone did not mean to give.
Cancel any time from your own account, without contacting anyone. You can also change the amount there. There is no retention call, no confirmation sequence, and no follow-up asking you to reconsider.
If a monthly gift continued past when you intended to cancel — you missed it, the cancellation did not go through, your circumstances changed suddenly — tell us and we will refund the payments in question. This happens and it is not a problem. If money is tight, we would much rather return it than have you go without something because a donation kept processing.
Use the contact form and include the approximate date and amount. A person handles it. Refunds are processed back to the original payment method and usually appear within five to ten business days depending on your bank.
A refunded donation is not a charitable contribution and cannot be claimed as one. If you already claimed it in a prior tax year, talk to your accountant about how to handle it.
Because a difficult refund process is a way of keeping money from people who wanted it back, and our whole argument is that we handle money differently. A donor who can leave easily is a donor who stayed by choice.
47 people were helped before we asked for a dollar. Monthly giving is what lets us say yes before the money is in hand.
