Accessibility

A disabled-led organization
has no excuse.

Our standard, what we have actually done, the gaps we currently know about, and how to tell us about one we missed. Last reviewed July 26, 2026.

The Standard

WCAG 2.1 Level AA, as a working target.

We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We are stating that as a target we work toward and measure against, not as a certification we are claiming to have passed. Most sites that display a compliance badge have never been independently audited, and we would rather tell you what we have actually verified.

What is built in

  • Reduced motion is honored everywhere. If your system requests reduced motion, every animation on this site is disabled — not softened, disabled. That covers scroll effects, transitions, and the hero.
  • Keyboard navigation throughout, including the giving toggle, which responds to arrow keys.
  • Semantic structure — real headings in order, real landmarks, so a screen reader can navigate rather than read linearly.
  • Contrast designed to meet AA against our dark and light backgrounds.
  • No motion on Crisis Support. That page deliberately has no animation at all, because someone in crisis needs content instantly and decorative movement is an obstacle.
  • Quick Exit works by click or by pressing Escape three times.

Known gaps

Publishing these is the point of the page. An accessibility statement with no known issues is a statement nobody has tested.

  • Not all images sitewide have been reviewed for accurate alternative text. This is in progress.
  • Third-party embeds — payment checkout and any embedded forms — are not fully under our control and may not meet the same standard as the rest of the site.
  • No independent third-party audit has been conducted. Our testing to date is internal.
  • PDF documents, as they are added, may not all be fully tagged for screen readers. Ask and we will provide an accessible alternative format.

Beyond the website

Accessibility is not only a web problem. If you need to reach us in a different way — a different contact method, plain language, more time, a support person present, or written rather than verbal communication — say so and we will accommodate it. You do not need to explain why, and you do not need to document anything.

Tell us about a barrier

If something here does not work for you, that is a bug and we want the report. Use the contact form and describe what happened — you do not need technical language. We aim to respond within two business days and to say plainly whether we can fix it, and by when.
