GROUPS

A room of peoplewho already know the vocabulary.

Four groups with a faith dimension: religious trauma, deconstruction, grief that is tangled up with belief, and the exiled. Enrolment is open and the first cohort is being received now. Every group is led by someone who has cleared the certification path before a single session runs.

WHY A FAITH DIMENSION

Some injuries were done in a sanctuary.

A religious trauma support group is not a general therapy group with hymns added. The harm has specific machinery — a text used as a weapon, a father in the faith who turned, an altar call that worked. Talking about it in a room where nobody knows what an altar call is costs you half the hour in translation.

These four groups exist so that the translation is unnecessary. If your difficulty has nothing to do with church, the general community groups on the main Bloom site will serve you better, and going there is not a lesser choice.

WHAT JOINING INVOLVES

Five steps, and you can stop at any of them.

Send the enrolment form

Name or alias, which group, and how it is safe to contact you. Two sentences about what brought you is plenty.

A short conversation first

Fifteen to twenty minutes with the leader, by message or voice, before you are placed. It exists so you can ask questions and so the group is the right one.

Read the covenant

Confidentiality, no proselytising, no cross-talk that corrects someone’s beliefs, and a clear route to raise a concern about the leader. You keep a copy.

Required — not waivable

Be placed in the cohort

You are told the size, the format, the meeting rhythm, and the start date before you commit to anything.

Attend, or don’t

Missing a session costs you nothing and triggers no follow-up you did not ask for. Leaving is a message, not a meeting.

“There is no room in Christ that you have to be well enough to enter.”

BEFORE YOU ENROL

Questions worth asking of any group.

Every group is led by someone who has cleared the certification path published in the canonical formation documents — screening, training, a covenant, and a standing supervision requirement. The path is public and you can read it in full before you enrol.
Each group starts when its first cohort is complete. Enrolment is open now, you are told the start date before you commit, and you will not be held in an unanswered queue.
No. A religious trauma support group that required belief would be an odd thing. People who have lost their faith, never had one, or are actively furious at God are all in scope.
No. These are peer support groups with a trained leader. They do not diagnose or treat anything, and the leader will help you find an affirming clinician if that is what the situation needs.
No. Proselytising inside a group is a covenant violation, and it applies to the leader first.
Those live on the main Bloom site so that they are reachable without going through a church. Go straight there.

Enrol in a group

Tell us which group, an alias if you prefer one, and how it is safe to reach you. The Ordinary and the group’s leader are the only people who read this.

Nobody arrives at a group like this feeling ready. Enrolling costs you nothing and commits you to a conversation, not a year.
