THE DAILY OFFERING

Six days a week, whether anyone reads it or not.

The Daily Offering is this church’s ordinary daily prayer, published as text Monday through Saturday and read alone at any hour. It has appeared without a break since 17 October 2025. It takes about six minutes and asks nothing of you.

On what the Daily Offering is, and is not

The Daily Offering is a low-Mass form. It is not a Mass, and this church never calls it one. Sunday Mass is a distinct act of worship offered on Sunday, and on that day it replaces the Offering entirely — the two are never celebrated on the same date.

WHAT A LOW-MASS FORM IS

The plainest shape the tradition has.

In the Roman books, low Mass is the spoken form: no choir, no incense, no ceremony beyond what is required. It was historically the shape of a weekday morning in a nearly empty church, and it was never the lesser thing that word suggests. It is the tradition at its most unadorned.

The Offering keeps that shape and publishes it as text: the day, the season and its colour, the appointed readings, and a short reflection written for that day. Daily prayer in this form does not require you to be anywhere, to be dressed, to be well, or to be able to speak.

What it is not is a Mass. The distinction is kept precisely because sloppiness about it would be a lie told to people who have already been lied to about the sacraments.

WHAT IS IN ONE

Five parts, in this order, every time.

The day, named

Date, season, rank, and liturgical colour, computed from the calendar of 1962 rather than selected by hand.

The appointed readings

What the day gives, including the days that are hard to hear. Nothing is swapped out for being inconvenient.

The reflection

Short, written for that day, addressed to people the Church has treated badly without pretending otherwise.

The intentions

Petitions sent to the Chancery are carried here by name or by situation, never published and never described.

Never published

The close

A few lines, and then it ends. No appeal, no ask, no prompt to share, no counter recording that you were here.

“Stay with us, because it is towards evening, and the day is now far spent.”

Luke 24:29

ABOUT THE OFFERING

Answers before you commit a minute.

No. People read the Offering as prayer, as an argument they are still having, and as the only quiet six minutes in a day. All three are welcome and none of them is checked.
No. It is a low-Mass form published in text and is never called a Mass in this church. Mass is offered on Sunday and takes that day’s place in the pattern.
Sunday Mass replaces the Offering for that date. There is never a Sunday with both, and the Sunday page says which propers are used.
Yes. The form below sends the Offering to you when it is published. It is one message a day, it contains no appeal for money, and unsubscribing takes one click and is never followed up.
Nothing happens. There is no streak, no attendance, and no return process. The archive stays open and the current day is always the current day.
No. Daily prayer here has no fee, no subscription tier, and no paywall. Nothing this church publishes is metered.

Have the Offering sent to you

One message a day, when it is published. No appeals, no campaigns, no second list.
