SUNDAY MASS

The rite of 1962,kept whole and kept open.

Each Sunday, Mass is offered in the Roman Rite of 1962 within the Church of Bloom’s own Independent Catholic tradition. It replaces that day’s Daily Offering. Nothing in the rite has been altered, and the closing blessing is given as Bloom’s own pastor.

On the standing of this Mass

Mass here is offered in the Roman Rite of 1962 within the Church of Bloom’s own tradition. This church is Independent Catholic and is not in communion with Rome; it claims no Roman faculties, no Roman jurisdiction, and no Roman recognition of its orders. The rite is kept unaltered and the claim is kept honest, and neither of those is negotiable.

WHAT SUNDAY CHANGES

One day of the week is not the same as the others.

Six days a week the Daily Offering is published as a low-Mass form in text. On Sunday, that stops. Mass is offered for the day, with the propers appointed to it, and the online Sunday Mass takes the Offering’s place in the pattern rather than running beside it.

The distinction is kept because it is true and because people who were pushed out of churches are entitled to precision about what they are being given. A church that inflates its own liturgy is training you not to trust it later, when the stakes are a sacrament.

The homily on a Sunday will name what is happening to trans people, disabled people, and anyone else the wider church has been arguing about, and it will do so as pastoral care rather than as commentary.

HOW A SUNDAY RUNS

From the propers to the blessing.

The day is fixed

Sunday’s rank, season, and colour come from the calendar of 1962. Its propers belong to it and are not exchanged for a preferred text.

Mass is offered

From the Missale Romanum of 1962, unaltered. Intentions sent to the Chancery are carried in it, by name or by situation, and are never published.

Replaces that day’s Offering

The homily

Written for this congregation: people who were told to leave, to be quiet, or to be someone else in order to stay. It says so out loud.

The blessing

Given as Bloom’s own pastor, in this church’s own right, and claiming nothing that does not belong to it.

Given as Bloom’s own pastor

The record

The Mass is entered in the register. Registers here are kept in bound books in ink, which is why a count of Sundays can be given at all.

ABOUT SUNDAY

The questions that deserve a direct answer.

No. It is published as text and open to anyone, including people who are certain and people who are certain of the opposite. Nothing about your interior state is examined here.
No, and this church will not pretend otherwise. The Church of Bloom is not in communion with Rome and claims no Roman faculties or jurisdiction; a Roman obligation is a matter for Rome. What is offered here is a real Mass in this church’s own tradition, offered in the rite of 1962.
No. The online Sunday Mass replaces that day’s Offering. There is never a date carrying both.
Yes. Send a name or a situation to the Chancery and it is carried in the Mass. Intentions are not published and are not described to anyone.
No. Nothing here has a fee, no gift is expected, and giving is handled by a separate office that has nothing to do with the sacraments.
